Job Requirements/Description

Are you a highly skilled Technical Designer/Estimator with a strong technical background in fire alarm systems? We are looking for a proactive individual to join our team, ensuring seamless design, estimation, and execution of fire alarm projects from start to finish.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site surveys: Organize and execute site surveys based on client specifications to assess the capacity of existing/proposed systems for upcoming works.
  • System evaluation: Ensure there is adequate system capacity for the required work during the surveys.
  • Design and methodology: Develop detailed designs and methodologies for the surveyed works to ensure seamless installation and functionality.
  • Quotation preparation: Produce accurate and competitive quotations based on gathered information and calculated costs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the project team and sub-contractors to ensure that installation needs are incorporated into the quotation process.
  • On-site design meetings: Attend design meetings on-site for major projects, ensuring ongoing collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • Estimation support: Assist the office-based estimating team by providing design assistance and verifying technically challenging quotes.
  • Technical support: Offer guidance to the engineering team for any technical queries, including attending site meetings to resolve issues related to ongoing faults.
  • Liaise with Business Development: Coordinate with the Business Development team to update them on new leads and obtain assistance in following up on submitted quotations.
  • Sales auditing: Monitor your own project pipeline through sales auditing software, regularly following up on quoted works to meet projected targets.


What We're Looking For:

  • Strong experience in fire alarm systems design and estimation.
  • Ability to conduct site surveys and develop detailed designs based on client specifications.
  • Excellent understanding of installation requirements and capacity planning.
  • Ability to prepare and verify competitive, accurate quotations.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with teams and attend client/site meetings.
  • Self-motivated with an eye for detail, ensuring accurate monitoring of project targets and follow-ups.
  • An experienced engineer looking to move into a technical, off the tools role.
