Project Description:


Our client is the large international commodity trading company. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Project Manager/Programme Manager to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive system to consolidate derivatives trading within our client's business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT project management, experience in the financial trading sector, and a deep understanding of derivatives trading. This role will be pivotal in driving the strategic development of an integrated platform that enhances our trading operations and improves efficiency across the board.


Responsibilities:


Project Planning and Management

  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Oversee all stages of project life cycle, from initial concept through to delivery and post-implementation support.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with senior management and key stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and requirements.
  • Communicate project status, progress, and risks to stakeholders regularly, ensuring transparency and alignment with business goals.
  • Manage expectations and negotiate with stakeholders to ensure the project delivers maximum value.


Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional project teams, including business analysts, developers, testers, and operations staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance and support to achieve project objectives.


System Development and Implementation

  • Oversee the development of a consolidated derivatives trading system, ensuring it meets the functional and technical requirements of the business.
  • Work closely with developers and architects to design and implement solutions that are scalable, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Ensure the integration of new systems with existing trading platforms and back-office systems.


Risk Management and Compliance

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the project, including regulatory and compliance risks.
  • Ensure the system complies with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential project roadblocks.


Quality Assurance and Testing

  • Develop comprehensive test plans and coordinate testing activities to ensure system quality and performance.
  • Oversee the resolution of any issues identified during testing to ensure a smooth transition to production.


Post-Implementation Support and Evaluation

  • Manage the transition of the project from development to operations, ensuring effective handover and training for end-users.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess project success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Continuously monitor system performance and implement enhancements as needed.


Mandatory Skills Description:


  • 10+ years of experience in IT project management, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects in the financial trading sector.
  • Strong experience in managing projects related to derivatives trading, risk management, and trading platforms.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Trello) and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.


Nice-to-Have Skills Description:
