Hunter Mason is representing a successful family run company that specialise in facilities management, commercial fit out and Mechanical and electrical projects on a national basis.
The role has become available due to company growth and ideally, they would require someone on a permanent basis who is keen to progress and develop within the organisation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparing Take-offs for estimating: Accurately measure completed works according to contract specifications and established protocols.
- Measure completed work: Accurately measure completed works according to contract specifications and established protocols.
- Prepare interim valuations: Calculate fair and accurate valuations for completed work, ensuring timely payments to subcontractors.
- Monitor and track project costs: Analyse expenditure against budgets, identify potential cost overruns or savings, and report variances to the project quantity surveyor.
- Process changes orders and variations: Assist with analysing and pricing change orders, updating budgets, and preparing documentation for approvals.
- Maintain project documentation: Organise and maintain accurate records of cost-related documents, contracts, and reports.
- Administer the contract process subcontractor payments Administrative Support:
- Prepare reports and presentations: Contribute to drafting reports on project costs, progress, and forecasts, and assist with creating presentations for internal meetings.
- Manage data and databases: Maintain the accuracy of project cost data in spreadsheets and databases and assist with preparing visualizations and analyses.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers:
- Communicate with subcontractors on cost-related matters, obtain clarifications, and address minor queries.
- Stay up to date on relevant construction regulations and cost management practices.
- Assist with training and development initiatives within the quantity surveying team.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the project quantity surveyor or team leader.
Requirements:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management.
- 1+ years' experience within the construction industry.
- Proficient with QS software and tools.
- Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
