Experience and Qualifications:

- Chartered status in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

- 10-15 years of industrial experience within a complex chemical manufacturing environment.

- Proven expertise in managing capital projects, plant engineering, and process improvement.

Main Purpose:

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for managing and leading capital projects from conception through to completion, ensuring approval, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases are effectively executed. The role also includes overseeing engineering systems and records, conducting engineering investigations, and implementing improvements to the processing plant for increased efficiency and safety.

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Process Plant Design & Construction:

- Lead the design and construction of process plants, ensuring they meet operational, safety, and efficiency requirements.

2. Quality & Safety Compliance:

- Ensure that all production methods, materials, and quality standards align with industry specifications and safety regulations.

3. Process Efficiency & Safety:

- Ensure that process plant designs are efficient, safe, maintainable, and controllable, addressing operational needs and safety standards.

4. Maintain Engineering Documentation:

- Update and maintain P&ID diagrams and other essential engineering drawings to reflect project changes.

5. Capital Project Management:

- Serve as the project manager for capital expenditure (Capex) projects, ensuring all required Capex processes are completed.

6. Feasibility Studies & Costings:

- Prepare reports, feasibility studies, and cost analyses for major investments in processing facilities to support capacity increases, novel product manufacturing, and safer operations.

7. Supplier Procurement:

- Manage the procurement of systems and equipment from approved suppliers, ensuring optimal quality, cost, and delivery performance.

8. Installation & Commissioning:

- Oversee the installation of systems, ensuring projects are completed within the specified timeline and conducting commissioning activities in collaboration with plant/engineering personnel.

9. Contractor Management:

- Manage contractors to ensure the successful execution of Capex projects.

10. Documentation & Records Management:

- Ensure that all project documentation and engineering records are properly maintained and updated.

11. Process Improvements & Research:

- Conduct research and develop process improvements aimed at increasing output, lowering manufacturing costs, and enhancing safety.

12. PSM Compliance & Standards Development:

- Take responsibility for adhering to process safety management (PSM) procedures and contribute to the development of site standards and guidance for process engineering.

13. Incident Reporting & Investigation:

- Report all process safety incidents or hazards and actively contribute to investigations when required.
