Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team in Gravesend, Kent. This full-time position is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting students with special educational needs in a school setting. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to ensure all students receive tailored support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The role is based in a well-connected location with excellent transport links, making it easily accessible for those commuting from London and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support for students with special educational needs, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
- Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Implement personalized learning plans (EHCPs) and offer emotional and behavioral support where necessary.
- Monitor student progress and report back to the class teacher and SENCO.
- Help with classroom management and student supervision during lessons, break times, and extracurricular activities.
- Build positive relationships with students, promoting confidence, independence, and well-being.
- Work collaboratively with the wider school team, parents, and external professionals to support student development.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably within an SEN setting.
- A solid understanding of supporting children with various special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- A proactive and empathetic approach, with a passion for helping students succeed.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to different learning environments.
- Right to work in the UK.
