Business Central Consultant

Salary: £55k - £70k

Location: Rugeley, Staffordshire

Occasional Visits to Rugeley office.


As a Dynamics Business Central Consultant, you will conduct effective and knowledgeable consultancy sessions, identifying opportunities for small changes to Business Central/NAV functionality to ensure clients gain maximum usage and benefit from the product. You will identify and resolve any barriers to product use in a timely manner. Your role will involve daily application testing, UAT support, and project tasks, working closely with other Consultants and Project Managers to ensure effective project delivery. You will coordinate with all departments to ensure that customer expectations are managed and exceeded in line with project deadlines, service level agreements, and quality standards.

As a member of the Consultancy team, you will provide feedback and suggestions to assist in improving best practices and enhancing the customer experience.


Key Tasks

  • Assist clients with configuring Business Central/NAV and add-on software, conducting full system walkthroughs as needed, and attending client sites across the UK as required by business needs.
  • Scope and recommend small changes to Business Central/NAV functionality to help clients extend the capabilities of the standard application.
  • Address client software concerns and issues while on-site, identifying scenarios where client processes cannot be handled within the standard application and providing feedback to the project management team as needed.
  • Perform essential project tasks such as GAP analysis, product handovers, and signing off project milestones, ensuring configurations align with client requirements and expectations.
  • Deliver clear and effective application training to key client users across the UK during projects using standard Microsoft training materials.
  • Conduct daily application testing and UAT support in line with service level agreements and quality standards.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with other members of the consultancy team, providing client feedback to ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Contribute to business focus areas by offering constructive feedback on internal processes to improve best practices.
  • Follow our client’s methodology and project plans to deliver services that meet service level agreements and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, including the project management team, to relay client concerns and ensure timely resolution in line with service level agreements and quality standards.
  • Manage self-set deadlines in accordance with SLAs and effectively manage customer expectations.
  • Proactively identify and escalate risks and blockers during application training that may impact project deadlines, ensuring appropriate escalation.
  • Be prepared to work outside regular hours, including late nights and weekends, as required by project needs.
  • Performance will be measured against utilisation targets and shared project delivery goals.

Essential Skills:

  • Recognised finance qualifications such as AAT Level 3 are desirable.
  • Proven experience as a ‘Key User’ or Implementation Consultant with Dynamics NAV/Business Central.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solution-oriented and customer-focused.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Significant experience in 1st and 2nd line support.
  • Extensive knowledge of business applications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Dynamics NAV/BC, Dynamics 365 for Sales, and the Microsoft Stack.
  • Knowledge of modules within Business Central/NAV and experience in business software implementation is desirable.
  • Experience working for a Microsoft Partner
  • Experience with Training and consultancy Finance projects.
  • Not For Profit Experience (Desirable)
  • Power BI knowledge
  • ISV experience
  • Proven experience in design, documentation, installation, configuration, testing, training, and go-live support.
