Job Title: Digital Content and Social Media Producer

Client Location: Central London (2 days a week)

Starting: ASAP

Salary/Pay Rate: £300 - £400 per day (Outside IR35)

Hours: Part-time

Duration: 2 days a week for 4-6 weeks


Our client is a global charitable foundation that seeks to improve health for everyone by funding science, campaigning on policy issues, and building partnerships. Over the next ten years, they plan to spend £16bn to support new discoveries in life, health and wellbeing. And are taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease, and climate and health.


The Role:

We’re looking for an experienced digital content and social media producer to support their two initiatives, the Photography Prize and When Science Finds a Way, through creating and editing digital content for the web and Instagram.


This is a part-time role. Our client is looking for someone who can work 2 days a week in their Central London office for up to 4-6 weeks. Their office days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week and the 2 days can be split however is best for you. The role offers a gross rate of between £300 - £400 per day (Outside IR35).


About the Photography Prize

The Photography Prize has a 27-year legacy using imagery to bring stories of health, science and medicine to life. It aims to:

  • Offer different perspectives on health and science by sharing visual stories of people’s experiences from around the world.
  • Provide a platform for others to tell their story, and for people closest to the issues to provide local context and show how they are adapting to, living with and overcoming these challenges.
  • Showcase science-focused imagery alongside human storytelling and celebrate the wonder of science and the research process itself.
  • Build emotional connections and inspire action.

The Photography Prize recently underwent strategic review and is evolving to live new beliefs and values and to centre lived experience and our commitments to equity, diversity and inclusion. It will relaunch with an open call to enter in October 2024.


About When Science Finds a Way

Our client's podcast ‘When Science Finds a Way’, showcases creative solutions from people at the heart of the greatest health challenges of our time. It explores research that is making a tangible difference in the lives of people and their communities. Each episode delves into the journeys of researchers, policymakers, and individuals on the frontlines of these challenges. From community-led climate change solutions to cutting-edge technology that’s redefining disease, and fresh approaches to treating mental health disorders, the podcast unveils the compelling human narratives woven into the fabric of scientific progress.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Create and edit content that is designed to engage key audiences in research, global health, photography and scientific imaging
  • Champion plain English and make sure content is in the client's tone of voice
  • Embed the client's anti-racist and anti-ableist principles and involve minoritised communities when developing digital content
  • Ensure the content calendar is regularly updated and that excellent content is published across channels on time
  • Keep the Photography Prize and podcast webpages up to date as new content is released
  • Use evidence, data and research to inform content decisions, including keyword research to improve the findability of content


Skills and Experience:

  • Experience developing and writing content for Instagram
  • Experience running an Instagram account, using Instagram posts, stories and highlights to grow reach and engagement
  • Experience with inclusive language and inclusive communications and applying this to social media content
  • Experience writing, editing and creating digital content around sensitive subject areas (e.g. in the health and cultural space) for different audiences
  • Experience using content management systems (e.g. Drupal 9 or above) and the visual communication platform, Canva, would be a significant advantage
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable proactively reaching out to potential collaborators to source or develop new content that aligns with the client's beliefs, values and strategic programmes
  • Creative eye and passion for photography and visual storytelling
  • Knowledge of copyright, licensing, and legal compliance in photography is beneficial
