Contract type: 12-month, full-time contract
Reports to: Head of Sustainability
Location: Premier League Offices, Paddington, London W2 1HQ
Overview
An integral part of the Premier League's work is to be a "Force for Good" in both the communities we operate in and our wider reach. As part of this ambition, the Premier League is looking for an experienced environmental Sustainability Manager to support the Head of Sustainability in implementing the Premier League's sustainability strategy.
The Sustainability Manager will lead on sustainability operations, working with the Head of Sustainability on the delivery of internal programmes to help the Premier League meet its environmental commitments. These include the development of a management system for the Premier League's business, building the company's Climate Transition Plan, rolling out staff training, managing reporting processes and improving emissions data collection capabilities.
The Sustainability Manager should have a diverse range of skills, ideally with a background in the implementation of sustainability strategies, and a flexible and collaborative approach.
The Premier League has a strong sense of social purpose, from the No Room for Racism Action Plan, designed to develop opportunities for underrepresented groups in football, to our Premier League Primary Stars education programme, which includes provision of free curriculum-linked resources across a range of subjects for primary school teachers. We support the improvement of stadiums and local facilities, develop emerging talent, encourage ambition and harness the appeal of our clubs to inspire people and positively change lives. With the growing climate crisis and related issues of environmental quality and resource efficiency, we are committed to taking forward an ambitious programme covering these issues as soon as possible.
Who we are
The Premier League is home to some of the most competitive and compelling football in the world. The League and its clubs use the power and popularity of the competition to inspire fans, communities and partners in the UK and across the world. The Premier League brings people together from all backgrounds. It is a competition for everyone, everywhere and is available to watch in over 900 million homes in 189 countries.
We have a wide variety of responsibilities. These include organising the competition and its Handbook as well as managing the centralised broadcast and commercial rights. The work we do in conjunction with Clubs also goes far beyond the 90 minutes. We support and provide a framework for youth development, support the wider game and community programmes, undertake international development work, liaise with governing bodies and other leagues and protect the organisation's intellectual property.
The Premier League is an equal opportunities employer and strives to create an inclusive culture where talent can flourish. We believe in the potential of everyone and open our doors to people who share those values. All appointments will be made based on merit; however, we particularly encourage applications from women, people from minority ethnic communities, LGBTQ+ people and disabled people.
Our hybrid-working model also allows you some variety on your place of work, offering you the chance to work from home on some days each week. Where possible, you will attend the office or site visits in line with our company policy. All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements.
