Networks and Security Engineer (6-Month Contract)
Location: York, Colchester, or London, UK
Contract Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days onsite per week)
We are seeking an experienced Networks and Security Engineer to join our dynamic team on a 6-month contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking technologies, with exposure to public cloud environments. As a critical member of the team, you will work closely with a specific business unit, contributing to change initiatives and supporting the evolving needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Product Owner to construct a backlog, including user stories and technical requirements
- Provide accurate work estimation in partnership with the Agile Delivery Lead and ensure timely delivery of tasks
- Act as the go-to expert for all networking requirements within the squad
- Review, contribute to, and challenge technical designs before execution
- Document all work and ensure a smooth handover to the BAU (Business As Usual) team for ongoing operations
- Collaborate with engineers, testers, and other team members on migration work, disaster recovery tests, and other key projects—including working out of hours when necessary
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing
Requirements:
- Proficiency with Cisco Nexus Switches (7k, 9k) and Cisco Routers (ASR, ISR series)
- Hands-on experience with Cisco ACI (including VMM integration, ESGs, etc.)
- Deep understanding of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
- Recent experience working with Palo Alto and Checkpoint firewalls (including configurations in Azure)
- Ability to configure VPNs on Palo Alto and Checkpoint firewalls
- Expertise with F5 (LTM/DNS/ASM) and Netscaler ADC
- Experience with Infoblox DDI and Azure DNS
