Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Building Services Mechanical Design Engineer with a leading International multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Central London. They are one of the UKs Top Employers for 5 years in a row according to Top Employer Institute. Their multi-disciplined team includes MEP (30 strong), Environmental Design & Sustainability, VT, and Architectural Design Lighting. They are involved in high profile and prestigious projects all over the world across a variety of sectors so the role may involve some travel.
Responsibilities:
- To provide discipline leadership and represent the company in professional and diligent manner always.
- To adhere to the design process and undertake mechanical engineering design activities relating to the project.
- To fulfil the Practice s overall objective in producing first class architecture and engineering on time and on budget.
- Review and management of project from inception to post construction duties.
- Good Knowledge of relevant legislations, standards, regulations, guides and good practise.
- To develop thorough knowledge of and compliance with company procedures and standards.
- To contribute and assist, as required by the Project Leader or Senior Partner, or nominated Engineer.
Skills:
Required:
- Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
- Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based.
- Qualified as a Chartered Engineer.
- Solid technical understanding of own core engineering discipline and the role of the mechanical engineer within the design team.
- Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines engaged in the design of the built environment.
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standard design reference material.
- Ability to use initiative in response to demands of project.
- Able to negotiate and communicate well in graphical, written or verbal forms including ability to listen and to understand others.
- Ability to understand and formulate design decisions.
- A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and a proven commitment to independent, lifelong learning.
- Self-organized and motivated.
- Developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team.

- Ability to use Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable:
- International project experience.
- LEED qualified or having working familiarity with environmental assessment methods such as LEED/BREEAM/WELL etc.
- Broad understanding of sustainable design and the role of HVAC systems design in the built environment with some knowledge on MEP embodied carbon.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE design standards, including 55, 62.1, 90.1 etc.
- Ability to use some of the following software applications: IES, Adobe Creative Suite
- Coding in python, dynamo, grasshopper, C+.
