Marcegaglia Stainless Sheffield has three sites across Sheffield, and they include our own Melting Shop called SMACC (Stainless Melting and Continuous Casting), that produces semi-finished products such as slabs, billets, blooms and ingots; ASR (Alloy Steel Rods), our rolling mill that produces wire rod, bar and rebar and SSB (Sheffield Stainless Bar), our bar finishing unit.


As part of our ongoing growth and multi-million pound investment, we are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join the Engineering Projects team.


As Electrical Project Manager, you will effectively manage the Capital Projects Team within the SMACC business unit, to include management of Strategic Capital, and Major Maintenance developments with key deliverables for Health & Safety, Legislative requirements, Quality Development, Production improvements (and managing obsolescence).


Also, you will be responsible for creating detailed project plans, leading and motivating a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring that all project milestones are met within budget and on schedule. To be successful, you will need to manage stakeholder communication, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry regulations.


Responsibilities

  • To manage the development, installation and delivery of the Capital and Major Maintenance plans for the Business, contributing to product development to meet the business strategic aims and customer requirements.
  • Managing project budgets and ensuring key milestones are met.
  • To ensure all necessary internal and external standards applicable to the design, installation, and operation of the plant are implemented and adhered to. Where required, to generate new or make necessary amendments to existing standards to ensure that plant and equipment installed meets operational criteria.
  • To implement and control safe working practices, with due regard to current and future legislation, to prevent accidents, plant damage and loss of production.
  • To work with the Group General Procurement function, to ensure that best value is gained.
  • To manage, direct, appraise, motivate, select and develop staff and team workers in the Capital Projects Team to maximise the departments effectiveness.
  • To provide monthly updates on the Capital & Major Maintenance spend committed and cash out, to ensure the budget is effectively managed, working closely with the SMACC senior management team and the Finance function.


Skills required

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level in engineering discipline or equivalent
  • A minimum of three years practicable experience within a steel works/heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to successfully lead, coach, motivate and develop engineers and other employees, supporting the business unit requirements.
  • Proven organisational skills to plan the effective utilisation of people and resources to meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and co-ordinate detailed safety risk assessments applicable to the project complexity (HAZOP. SWIFT).
  • Competent with the roles and responsibilities pertaining to the delivery of capital projects in-line with the Construction, Design & Management Regulations (CDM)
  • Several years’ experience of Melting Shop operations including a knowledge of current and future developments.
  • Thorough understanding of current regulations, and legislation.
  • A knowledge and understanding of medium/heavy engineering design, practices,
  • Proven understanding of maintenance methodologies that support timely delivery of Capital requirements for the business unit.
  • Knowledge of relevant current and future standards, specifications, statutory legislation, codes of practice, safety regulations, contract terms and conditions and employment law.
  • Detailed knowledge of various PC operating systems (Microsoft Office, spreadsheet, database) and production specific computer systems that are required to support successful execution of Capital and engineering requirements to support the business unit.
