Position: Assistant Operations Manager

Reports to: Site Operations Manager


Role Overview: Based at our Tallington site the Assistant Operations Manager will assist local Operations Manager and the team in working on a range of projects to improve safety, develop people, improve quality, and upgrade the plant and its processes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for:


Key Accountabilities:

  • Work closely and support the operations management team on a daily basis.
  • Project leadership and management of business improvement projects and installations.
  • Work closely and liaise with production engineers to improve the plants manufacturing processes, flow of materials and automations projects.
  • Supporting the leadership team with project management and development of the plant’s infrastructure and growth.
  • Assist the engineering team with the capital expenditure projects from their identification of new opportunities.
  • Develop and implementation of lean concepts with the assistance of the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Developing best practices, identifying opportunities to grow and improve the Tallington plant and wider business.
  • Ensuring that all company policies and processes are worked to and are complaint.
  • All other duties as deemed necessary by the Site Operations Manager.


Associated Responsibilities:

  • Support of all engineering team related activities as and when required.
  • Process trouble shooting & development support – Manufacturing processes.
  • Process trouble shooting & development support – Quality & Environmental
  • Other projects as defined appropriate including CRH based projects and initiatives.


Experience and Training:

  • Candidates must be technically advanced with the ability to manage complexity, communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
  • High level IT skills including proficiency in full MS Office suite, Adobe Pro, Advanced Excel an understanding of, and ability to utilise, digital communications tools such as email and intranets.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute actively to projects.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in injection moulding or compression moulding is desirable.


Essential Criteria:

  • Candidates must be educated to Degree level, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline (Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering).
