The Role:

Reporting to our People Director, you will be a key member of our People Team, with responsibility for developing and leading the training and development plan, in line with the wider People and business strategy.

A key focus of the role is to futureproof our workforce, ensuring our people have the right skills and behaviours to meet the needs of our projects and stakeholders and to ensure we fulfil our grow our own strategy.


Responsibilities include but are not restricted to

  • Training needs analysis, contributing to the creation of a customised plan to meet business needs.
  • Manage and facilitate training requests.
  • In house and external development/training from workforce to leadership, collaborating with internal stakeholders to get under the skin of what we want to achieve and briefing on expected learning outcomes.
  • Training competency and skills matrix.
  • Mandatory safety critical/compliance led training - In collaboration with the Workforce lead, review and renew relevant training ensuring all staff are appropriately qualified and compliant with their role.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external training partners.
  • Ensure cost effective delivery of training.
  • Manage relationship with the CITB and other relevant organisations
  • Support our early careers programmes.
  • Advise on qualification routes
  • Support programmes for Professional Qualifications and development
  • Support Section 106 Industry Employment and Skills Requirements, supporting bids
  • Employment and skills initiatives, including job fairs, school visits, taster programmes and supporting employability programmes.
  • Streamline processes and procedures to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to projects to digitise our Training and Development systems.

  • Support on People Team initiatives and projects including High potential talent development programmes and Career pathways


About you

  • Ideally, you will have previous experience in a similar role working with a varied workforce in the construction or civil engineering industry
  • Excellent knowledge of training/qualification routes in the construction/civil engineering or related sector
  • Motivated, with high-energy and a hands-on, “roll your sleeves up” approach
  • Able to develop strong relationships – partnering closely with the business to identify and deliver requirements
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and exceptional communication skills are key requirements for this role.
  • Microsoft Suite – Excellent Excel skills are essential.
  • Excellent relationship builder
