Your new companyA growing SME, with ambitious growth plans for their Renewable operations, particularly with growth in their SOLAR PV sectors, seeking an Operations Manager, to autonomously manage the daily operations and ensure smooth delivery of projects.
Your new roleThis role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including overseeing project execution, managing teams, optimising processes, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers. The project management aspect involves leading the planning, execution, and delivery of solar PV projects, managing timelines, budgets, and resources, and coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution. Additionally, the role requires developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance operational efficiency and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement. Team leadership and development are crucial components of this role, as it involves managing and leading a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff to create a high-performance culture. This includes recruiting, training, and developing staff to maintain high standards of performance, safety, and customer service. Regular performance reviews, coaching, mentorship, and career progression plans are essential to fostering a motivated and skilled workforce.

Ensuring compliance with UK health and safety regulations, conducting regular safety audits and inspections, and promoting a culture of safety are also key responsibilities. Furthermore, the role involves overseeing supply chain and inventory management to ensure the availability of materials and equipment for all projects, building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, and managing inventory levels. Customer relationship management is another critical aspect, requiring the main point of contact for clients during project execution, providing regular updates, and managing escalations or issues effectively.
The role also includes financial management, stakeholder engagement, and staying up to date with the latest developments in solar PV technology and best practices to foster a culture of innovation within the team.
What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience as an Operations Manager or similar role within the solar PV or renewable energy sector.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience of developing and motivating staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, particularly with electrical installations.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain, procurement, and inventory management processes.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to manage client expectations and resolve issues.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budget management and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, project management, or a related field, would be advantageous.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
  • Experience with renewable energy software and technology solutions.
