Senior Java Engineer (~10+ YOE) - Systematic Quant Fund - London - Up to £275k TC

Overview:

Work in a small, collaborative, London-based engineering team, building highly distributed, memory-sensitive trading infrastructure using Java.

The firm has built a team combining experience from Big Tech, Gaming, and Trading industries to work collaboratively designing, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems for Algo Trading. Previous finance experience is not required, but if you work on technically demanding systems where optimising performance is key, then you could be a good fit for this position.

The firm offers flexible working and high-impact opportunities, ensuring each engineer feels like a key part of the team and has significant scope for learning, progression, and is compensated well above market rate.

Role: You will be joining an elite team of Java Engineers, including experts in JVM internals and performance optimisation. You would be working to enhance system performance, including:

• Collaborating with Quants and Computer Scientists to develop and implement models for optimising CPU/GPU utilisation within the JVM.
• Building real-time Market Data systems and customised tools for signal research.
• Working exclusively with the latest versions of Java (no legacy technology), utilising advanced JVM features, garbage collection tuning, and tools such as Gradle and Maven.

Requirements:

• Excellent knowledge of Java (including the latest versions and features)
• Proven experience with distributed systems, data structures, and algorithmic design
• Low-level and high-level optimisation within the JVM
