Job Description: M&E Contracts Manager (Mechanical Bias)

Position Overview: The M&E Contracts Manager (Mechanical Bias) will oversee service delivery for both residential and commercial reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) works. This role will manage a team of supervisors and engineers working on heating, water, and gas-related systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive mechanical knowledge and experience in managing M&E contracts, ensuring high standards of performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Workload and Output Management:
- Ensure efficient workload distribution, optimizing outputs while minimizing costs by managing resources effectively.
- Monitor and maintain real-time updates on work orders and job completion, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Control and monitor contract spend, overseeing chargeable jobs and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Plan and ensure delivery of PPM activities in line with contract requirements, meeting all KPIs.
- Collaborate with the planning and procurement team to ensure timely ordering and installation of parts with minimal disruption to clients.
Qualifications:
- Minimum HND in a mechanical discipline (essential).
- At least 5 years of M&E project or contract management experience.
- Supervisory or management qualifications (essential).
- Experience with M&E contracts in social housing is highly advantageous.
- Commercial or domestic gas ACS qualifications (desirable but not required to be current).
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of building maintenance services and engineering principles, particularly for mechanical systems in commercial properties.
- Familiarity with commercial PPM programs and their management.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership skills with a pragmatic and decisive approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication, able to translate technical information for diverse audiences.
- Proficient in reading drawings, schematics, and problem-solving.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Competency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
Experience:
- Proven track record in managing M&E contracts, particularly in the gas distribution or social housing sectors.
- Experience managing contracts worth over 2M.
- Thorough knowledge of Gas Safety Management Regulations, Electrical Safety Standards, and relevant statutory requirements.
- Successful experience in leading engineering teams and conducting contract review meetings with clients.

- Fluent in English.
- Full UK driving license.
- Willing to undergo a DBS check.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including being available for out-of-hours work when required.
