Job Requirements/Description

A leading design studio in London is in search of a Commercial Operations Director to join their team. The studio has a multi-layered approach to narrative-driven craftsmanship, covering fine art, design objects, and the creation of new materials. They work with clients such as (U)HNWI, interior designers, brands, and public bodies for public commissions.

The studio's work can be found in iconic super-prime real estate, yachts, public spaces, and galleries globally. They have a highly talented team that handcrafts and designs everything in London.

The studio has been operating for 20 years and is now seeking a head of production to support expansion in the business. The role will involve working with the craftsmen day-to-day to improve the performance of the team, throughout the making process. The role will require active leadership in production, operations and commercial strategy, including innovative processes and financial improvement through process enhancement.

The responsibilities will include monitoring production, analyzing ways of working, and ultimately improving profitability saving time and cost. The aim is to demonstrate tangible growth over 5 years by improving workflow, closely collaborating with the leadership team, and overseeing both micro and macro aspects of the business. You will be working closely with design teams, craftsman and founders and have oversight of the day-to-day projects.

The studio uses salesforce - a key task will be to rigorously review and maintain this across the studio linking production, management and sales.

The studio is known for attracting passionate, hardworking individuals with an entrepreneurial flair and a track record of success. They foster a friendly, down-to-earth culture and value thought leadership, depth of thought, intelligence, and integrity, seeking individuals who share similar work ethics.

Ideally, they are looking at profiles from large corporations to bring in new ways of working—this could be from sectors like large-scale manufacturing or others. This role would suit someone who wants to transition into a smaller firm during a growth period, moving away from the politics of large companies.

Please note the role is both strategic and hands-on. The role reports to the founders and will oversee managers in the business. Strong communication is key, able to break down and confidently share information with the artists, designers, craftsmen, and business managers.

Responsibilities:

? Deliver consistently on quality, on budget and on-time production to meet

commercial performance targets

? Develop and deliver a performance based culture

? Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and internal

and external collaboration

? Collaborate with senior managers in the development, measurement and

management of individual & team performance goals and KPI’s

? Deliver strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity

? Analyse current production processes and performance, recommending solutions for

improvement wherever possible

Experience:

? Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field

? 10 or more years in a production management role

? Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, backed by previous

professional success

? Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency

and productivity

? Strong experience in personal development

? Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines

Preferred skills and qualifications

? Experience in developing detailed schedules and forecasts

Please note this is a 4/5 day working in the office.
