The Project
As a highly experienced Design Manager, you will initially be based on a £250m new build residential and commercial mixed-use development in Leeds. You will play a key role in coordinating and managing the design process, leading a multidisciplinary team to ensure the project meets client briefs and complies with regulatory standards. Your role will ensure that all design elements are delivered to the clients specification and a high standard.
Requirements
For this role it is essential that you hold the experience below;
- Proven history of working on new build/refurbishment projects with build values in excess of £50m
- Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working for a market leading construction contractor or subcontractor
- Experience working on projects within residential / commercial sectors is advantageous however all candidates with a portfolio of working on medium-large scale projects are of interest

Duties
- Cost control
- Liaise with stakeholders
- Progress reporting / monitoring
- Regular use of Microsoft software
- Chair regular design team meetings
- Create and sustain the projects design management plan
- Control costs ensuring they remain within budgetary limits
- Initiate a good working communication platform between team
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with design consultants
- Carry out initial review of design information prior to issuing to client
- Providing support and technical advice to the client and other stakeholders
- Overseeing the preparation and management of technical drawings and plans
- Facilitate the exchange of information between the site team and the design team
- Allocating resources such as budget, time, and personnel effectively to achieve project goals
- Leading the design team through all phases of design projects, from initial concept to final execution
- Manage design modifications, ensuring that changes are accurately documented and communicated
- Develop and execute design strategies ensuring they align with project objectives and business goals
- Generate creative design solutions in response to client briefs, integrating feedback from the design team
- Uphold high standards of design quality and consistency, ensuring that designs meet client specifications and regulatory requirements
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and make adjustments to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget
- Review and approve design plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure they adhere to required standards and guidelines
- Acting as a liaison between the design team and other departments or external partners, ensuring clear and effective communication
- Manage and support the project design team, delegating tasks based on team members' specific skills and competencies
- Continuously review to identify the most cost-effective methods for achieving the required functionality, and recommend alternative construction details and systems to reduce costs
- Utilising strong communication skills to build positive relationships with clients, consultants and external agencies throughout the project process and ensuring a full understanding of their objectives and KPIs
