Software Engineer

Our client is seeking a talented Software Developer to join a new team dedicated to designing, developing, and maintaining business-centric data solutions. This role is a hyrbid position and you'll ideally be able to work from their Manchester based office twice a week.

In this role, you'll play a crucial part in defining how Kafka is utilized across the technology landscape. You’ll be responsible for developing applications, creating new processes for installations, upgrades, monitoring, and load balancing. Your expertise in software development, combined with strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit, will drive the success of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop applications using technologies like Java, Kafka, Kafka Streams, KSQLDB, Go, Docker, and SQL.
• Support the entire Kafka journey from design through to implementation.
• Maintain clean coding practices and contribute to automation and developer tooling.
• Identify technical improvements and drive innovation within the team.
• Collaborate with the testing team during various project phases, ensuring code accuracy and performance.
• Independently and collaboratively contribute to data streaming solutions.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language such as Python, Java, or Go.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and working within a Linux environment.
• Comfortable in handling high-volume transaction environments and developing low-latency, scalable solutions.
• Knowledgeable in dashboards and monitoring best practices.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders effectively.
• Self-motivated, with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
