Empowering Learning is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 child with high Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a welcoming primary school in Richmond. This full-time role is ideal for a graduate with previous experience in a school setting, who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

About the Role:

  • Position: Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
  • Location: Primary school in Richmond
  • Key Focus: Supporting a Year 1 child with high SEN
  • Start Date: Immediate start available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 1 child with high SEN needs.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviours and implement strategies to help the child engage with their learning and social development.
  • Take initiative in adapting tasks and activities to meet the child's individual needs, ensuring they are included in all aspects of school life.
  • Be proactive in supporting the child's emotional, social, and academic growth, maintaining a calm and positive approach throughout the day.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff members to monitor the child's progress and implement tailored support plans.

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualifications: Graduate with previous experience working in a school setting.
  • Experience: Experience supporting children with SEN, especially with challenging behaviours.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to take initiative when needed.
  • Resilience: Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, while being proactive in finding solutions.
  • Commitment: A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them succeed in their learning.
