Digital Solutions Architect

Job title: Digital Solutions Architect
Salary: up to £100,000 DOE
Contract: Permanent, full time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Monday through Friday, flexible between the hours of 8:30am - 6:00pm
Break details: 1-hour unpaid
Work Model: Remote but must be able to attend client sites in London when required.

Purpose of this role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Digital Solutions Architect to take responsibility for designing and architecting digital solutions that take account of Government Service Design principles and align with the Government's Technology Code of Practice, to meet the needs and expectations of clients and stakeholders. They will work across our most prestigious public sector clients, working closely and collaboratively with business analysts, service design, developers, testers, and product owners to ensure that the solutions are aligned with the business and client's requirements, technical standards, and best practices. They will also provide guidance and support to the delivery team throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for a programme of work that will allow greater use of automation, data, and technology for our clients so that they can take advantage of new services and have speed to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and understand the business needs and objectives of the clients and stakeholders.
  • Present technical solutions to non-technical clients and stakeholders.
  • Define and document the solution architecture, including the functional and non-functional requirements, the high-level design, the integration points, the security aspects, and the deployment strategy.
  • Select and evaluate the appropriate technologies, tools, frameworks, and platforms to deliver the solution.
  • Design and oversee the transformation, development, testing, and implementation of the solution components, ensuring that they adhere to the architecture and quality standards.
  • Ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security and privacy) are applied correctly.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the delivery team, resolving any issues or challenges that may arise during the project.
  • Prepare documentation, contribute to business strategy papers and presentations to communicate and collaborate with the clients and stakeholders.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the clients, stakeholders, and other architects to ensure that the solution meets the expectations and delivers value.
  • Review and update the solution architecture as needed, incorporating feedback, changes, and improvements.
  • AWS Certified Solutions - Associate (Must)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (Desirable but willing to undertake).

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing and delivering digital solutions, preferably for public sector or regulatory clients or in a public sector or professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in various digital technologies, such as cloud computing, web and mobile development, data and analytics, artificial intelligence, internet of things, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Lean).
  • Proficient in using various architecture frameworks, methodologies, and tools, such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, UML, etc.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance trade-offs and risks.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies or domains are a plus, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect certifications, TOGAF, etc.
