Job Title: Design Engineer

Design Engineer Salary: £35,000 - £38,000

Orion is currently working with an innovative manufacturing company based in Shefford. We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their friendly team and work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be primarily involved in designing components for water management systems.

Design Engineer Responsibilities:

• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
• Design and detail water management systems
• Develop engineering proposals
• Create 2D & 3D designs using Solidworks & AutoCAD
• Manage project contracts from start to finish
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings
• Communicate with customers
• Create and manage BOMs
• Implement design modifications
• Design based on customer specifications
• Collaborate with sales/purchasing teams to generate tender documents
• Execute layout designs
• General mechanical design sensor bracketry, equipment mounting, etc.

Design Engineer Required Experience:

• Proficient with design software such as CATIA, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and CREO
• Experienced with 3D CAD AutoCAD Inventor and Volt
• Skilled in 2D design
• Background or degree in Mechanical Engineering (HNC level or equivalent)
• Experience with sheet metal, concrete, plastics, fabrication, and welding
• Familiarity with pumps, pressure vessels, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Understanding of automated production machinery
• Detail-oriented with a systematic work approach
• Strong team player and effective mentor
• Eagerness to develop skills and knowledge
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and on the shop floor

Design Engineer Package:

• Competitive salary of £35,000 - £38,000 DOE
