Our customer, is an international line, light and base maintenance provider, operating a 24-hour comprehensive level of support for commercial aircraft operators.
Offering fully customised services including AOG support, workshop facilities, aircraft modification programs, 147 Technical Training, Aircraft Fuel Tank Repair and tooling hire & a UKAS approved tooling and equipment calibration laboratory.
As a truly independent MRO,the business is able to adapt its approach to respond to rapidly changing requirements, while also carrying out work to the highest standards, they are seeking to appoint a new Compliance & Safety Officer, to join thier team, based at Manchester Airport.
Job Purpose
The Compliance and Safety Officer shall perform administrative, analytical and investigative functions to develop, maintain and promote the highest standards of Compliance and Safety Management throughout.
Job Accountabilities
Ensuring that the activities of the organisation are monitored for compliance with the applicable requirements and any additional requirements as established by the organisation, and that these activities are carried out properly under the supervision of the nominated persons;
ensuring that any maintenance contracted to another maintenance organisation is monitored for compliance with the contract or work order; implementing a quality audit programme in which compliance with all maintenance procedures is reviewed at regular intervals in relation to each type of aircraft (or component) maintained (including the management and completion of audits and production of audit reports). He/she should ensure that any observed non-compliances or poor standards are brought to the attention of the person concerned via his/her manager
Monitoring and coordinate the response to compliance findings such that they are closed within the agreed timescales; corrections and corrective actions are requested as necessary; follow up and closure of any non-conformance; monitoring the amendment of the organisation s procedures and standard practices (MOE, including the associated procedure(s and their compliance with the current revision of Part-145 plus any other applicable regulatory requirement and guidance material issued by EASA/CAA; assessing suppliers of new and used components and materials for satisfactory product quality in relation to the needs of the organisation; assessing subcontractors working under the Compliance Monitoring and maintaining the expertise necessary to be able to do so, to the satisfaction of EASA. He/she is also responsible for assessing external specialist services required to be used by the organisation in the performance of maintenance;
establishing feedback from audit findings into the recurrent training programme
Processing the initial application, renewal or change to personnel certification authorisations on behalf of the Director of Compliance and Safety;
facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment and management;
Performing safety investigations in accordance with defined protocols to identify effective interventions;
monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the safety action plan, unless action follow-up is addressed by the compliance monitoring function;
Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of control measures following safety events;
ensure that there is safety training available, and that it meets acceptable standards;
ensuring safety management training is available and that it meets acceptable standards.
provide advice on safety matters;
establishing feedback from maintenance incidents/issues and feeding these back into the recurrent training programme;
Essential Criteria
Educated to Degree level or equivalent, preferably in an Engineering or Safety-related discipline.
2-years working in a aircraft maintenance or airline environment; or
2-years working in a compliance or safety environment
Excellent knowledge of Aviation standards in an airline maintenance environment (EASA); and
Excellent knowledge of the application of Safety Management Systems.
High standard of English language (written and oral).
High standard of computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
Working conditions
The role is based in an office environment within the Manchester Workshop.
The normal working day is between 07:00 and 16:00 on Monday to Thursday and between 07:00 and 13:00 on Friday. 30 minutes is provided for lunch. There may be occasions due to operational reasons where it is necessary to work outside of these hours.
