Lead Control Systems Engineer

Location: Leicester

Overview:
Our client, a leader in electrification systems, provides critical power and energy solutions for high-performance applications across energy, maritime, and industrial sectors. They are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Control Systems Engineer to join their Systems Engineering group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Drive Control Systems technology, including control algorithms and application software.
  • Manage core Drive Control PCB hardware and FPGA configurations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to specify, design, code, and validate control systems for MW-scale power electronic drive systems.
  • Maintain effective engineering interfaces with sales teams, field engineers, and firmware development teams.


Essential Requirements:

  • MUST be a UK National
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Variable Speed Drive Control Schemes.
  • Proficiency in Control Systems Design (both linear and non-linear).
  • Experience with C code programming and embedded software design.
  • Familiarity with control system simulation tools such as MATLAB Simulink.
  • Understanding of power electronics components (e.g., IGBTs, MOSFETs).
  • Knowledge of electrical machines and suitable control strategies for power electronics.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience leading technical teams in software, hardware, or control engineering.
  • Background in industries such as Marine, Energy, or Renewables.
  • Experience with integrated control schemes involving PLCs and HMIs.
