Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Wakefield Continental Shifts Upto £53k
Your new companyWe are delighted to be partnering with a leading FMCG manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Leeds. Their state-of-the-art facility produces high-quality products for the textile industry and are looking to add an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to their team. The manufacturing site is committed to excellence and continuous improvement.As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the production lines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- General maintenance duties, proactive and reactive to ensure there is minimal downtime
- Communicate details of unscheduled downtime to the Maintenance Lead and the reasons, with solutions offered.
- Participate in troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Participate in continuous process improvements.
- Update the KPI board promptly with relevant information to pass on to your work colleagues
- Maintain regular communication talks with the machine foreman and other team leaders to discuss any relevant issues
- Ensure comprehensive information, both verbal and written, is carried out between shifts to ensure efficient and smooth handover to other maintenance staff and the Maintenance Lead
- Carry out routine maintenance schedules to the maintenance schedule plan PPM (preventative planning maintenance)
- Regularly check the computer SFOL (shop floor on-line) to ensure the current machines are all running.
- Prioritise production stoppages over daily duties. • Installation work where required. • Follow a 'clean as you go' work ethic in accordance with good manufacturing practise.
- Take responsibility for ensuring the workshop and individual toolboxes are maintained to the highest standards.
- Identify improvements that can be made to production lines, individual machinery or other operations and ensure these improvements are communicated to the relevant team.
- Ensure relevant administration is completed for all work undertaken.
- Ensure knowledge is kept up to date for all areas of the role.
Requirements:This role is right for you if you are either a time-served fitter/engineer or have a City & Guilds certificate (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Significant experience in fault-finding, repair and general maintenance of machinery, hydraulics and other production associated systems
- Able to attempt most aspects of mechanical engineering with little direction.
- Good at diagnosing faults quickly & accurately.
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Competent using MIG, TIG and electric arc welding equipment.
