Associate - Historic Building Surveying

Are you an experienced Building Surveyor specialising in Historic buildings? If so, our Historic Building Consultancy division are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor or Architect to join them!

Being based in Cambridge, the team work with a large number of Oxbridge colleges aswell as other prestigious organisations across the UK. The successful applicant will get to work on some of the countries influential historic buildings and be part of their future! Our historic building consultancy department work specialise in offer strategic advice and support to property owners, occupiers, developers and investors in regards to historic assets and the division is made up of Architects, Buildings Surveyors and Project Managers.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Partner for Historic Building Surveying in Cambridge, which really does present you with the chance to be in the spotlight and progress your career in this niche field. Whilst not critical, client relationship experience and business development skills are a bonus and will be proactively encouraged, with training offered as part of your professional development.

What you’ll be doing:

• Work on a range of instructions received from clients and colleagues to include Building Surveys, PPM inspections, Acquisition Surveys, due diligence and decarbonisation reports
• Prepare listed building and planning applications
• Tender for new work
• Prepare budget costs and supervise contractors, liaise with clients and other consultants as required
• Maintain and build good relationship with clients
• Work on a range of instructions received from clients and colleagues to include Building Surveys, PPM inspections, Acquisition Surveys, due diligence and decarbonisation reports
• Build internal relationships to ensure cross selling of work
• Maintain up to date knowledge of new legislation affecting building surveying
• Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of relevant building surveying standards

About you:

• A relevant or RICS accredited qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent
• Passionate about historic buildings and sustainability
• Professional services or consultancy experience (desirable)
• Professional and personable client care skills
• Awareness and understand of issues affecting the economy and implications these will have on the firm/historic buildings
• A team player whose also able to work independently
• Professional services or consultancy experience (desirable)
• CSCS card holder (desirable)
• CAD skills
