Interim Head of Civil Litigation – Hybrid working – £500-550 per day Umbrella – 6 months + - Midlands

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are pleased to be recruiting for an Interim Head of Civil Litigation to join a Public Sector Organisation in the Midlands area.

This assignment will be for an initial period of 6 months with a strong likelihood of extension thereafter. The ideal candidate would work full time on a hybrid working basis.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within Local Government and will have a broad working understanding of Civil Litigation as well as previous management experience.

Duties may include:

• Acting as an integral part of the Management Team within the Organisation contributing to the strategic management and development on the department

• Managing a team of Solicitors and Paralegals who all specialise in all Civil Litigation/Personal Injury matters

• Providing specialist advice and guidance on legal matters, in Civil Litigation, and other areas of law when required

• Managing a complex caseload of Civil Litigation matters including attending courts, inquests, public inquiries and tribunals undertaking advocacy and representing the Council

• Supporting and supervising Trainee Solicitors and Solicitor Apprentices during placements within the departmnet

• Representing clients in negotiations and discussions with third parties in matters relevant to the Civil Litigation

• Instructing and managing suppliers of external legal services such as Solicitors and Barristers

• Preparing reports for, and attending Cabinet, Committees and Sub-Committees as required

An attractive daily rate between £500-£550 per day Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience.
