Job Overview

A vacancy for a Senior IT Systems Engineer has arisen in our Cross Functional Inventory Team at our Hinckley facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the company’s IT systems to provide exceptional customer service in the form of highly available, well performing, highly secure infrastructure and core services. Supporting over 100 global locations, partnering with application, end-user engineering, and support teams, the candidate will build relationships with key stakeholder and act as a technical focal point for the wider business as it relates several key pieces of technology including Microsoft and Linux on-premises and cloud-based technology, defensive security, automation and integration. The candidate will work with their leadership to develop a tactical road map, implement mature processes, drive continuous improvement, accountability, and supportability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support global enterprise systems, working with leadership to translate wider business strategy into an actionable road map.
  • Embrace a culture of collaboration, working closely with other IT and operational business functions to determine requirements, issues, and opportunities, whilst actively seeking engagement, working to eliminate silos
  • Maintain thorough preventative maintenance and documentation, utilizing structured thinking tools, adhering to company standards, and ensuring knowledge is adequately cross-pollinated
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis, Change Advisory Board, and other recurring business functions
  • Provide thought leadership and a point of escalation for the wider IT org; viewed as an expert in the Microsoft Server space, you will be expected to provide professional guidance and hands-on assistance across all core services, security, cloud technology, and infrastructure
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technology, industry trends and vendor strategies, remaining cost-centric and searching for the best value for the business
  • Strong presentation and communication skills. Must be competent presenting data, designs, and other content in a professional manner to everybody from a peer through to the CEO.
  • Work with, and drive our MSP, building relationships, leveraging expertise, and looking for opportunities
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned, including overnight and international travel


Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in an IT engineering role, with senior level engineering expertise and demonstrated expertise in IT Infrastructure
  • Expert in Windows Server and Linux operating systems
  • Expert in DNS, DHCP, PKI, Mail Transport (MX/SPF/DKIM)
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Azure, Office 365, including compute, storage, networking, scripting, and administration
  • Strong experience in PowerShell, BASH
  • Strong experience in defensive security, including EDR, SIEM, MFA, log aggregation, threat hunting and automated runbooks
  • Broad experience and conceptual understanding of multiple technology platforms, including: virtualization, SDWAN, Citrix, backup technologies, load balancing and reverse proxy, FTP, JAVA
  • Demonstrated willingness and appropriate understanding of large complex projects and usage of structured thinking tools, processes, controls and LSWs to drive systemic individual and team improvement
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentations skills. Ability to communicate complex issues/solutions in a manner that is easily understood and actionable despite the audience. Discernment in the use of confidential information and ability to keep confidential topics confidential
  • Valid passport & ability to travel domestically/internationally where required
