Mechanical Design Engineer

If you’re a talented Mechanical Design Engineer, lack development opportunities & want to work for a manufacturing business within which you’re able to learn, grow and progress, this could be the ideal role for you...

Who will I be working for?

You will be working for a large, global business within the Energy sector, which opens up a wealth of progression opportunities, within a structured, process-driven environment. Ongoing training, development and support will be provided- with further study supported and encouraged.

You’ll be joining a culture that values curiosity, expertise, and ideas as well as diversity, inclusion, and authenticity

The company offers hybrid-working (2 days from home a week) as well as flexible start and finish times, to make office commuting more manageable and to help fit around your personal life. Their plush and recently-refurbished offices are based in Fife, within commutable distance of Edinburgh and surrounding areas.

What will I be doing?

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the chance to work on a variety of diverse design and manufacturing projects. You will be responsible for designing appropriate engineering solutions/packages, 3D CAD modelling, using traditional engineering analysis techniques & calculations, and ensuring that each project is completed to the highest possible standards.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of activities you'd be involved in day-to-day:

  • Involvement in design activity across a range of O&G sector projects, from concept through to manufacturing.
  • Present designs to engineering staff during internal design reviews
  • Preparing part specifications and review detailed drawings.
  • Use traditional engineering analysis techniques and calculations to ensure that designs are safe and effective.
  • Work with other departments to ensure that designs meet customer requirements and are compliant with all relevant regulations.

What will I have/be in order to thrive within the role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Experience within the manufacturing sector
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis and hand calculations
  • 3D CAD Modelling exposure
  • A passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • A desire to learn, progress and gain Chartered Engineer status
  • If you are an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for technical challenges, then we would love to hear from you.

    What’s in it for me?

As well as generous base salaries, the company has a comprehensive benefits package, including private healthcare, excellent pension scheme, life assurance, the ability to buy/sell holidays, a free on-site gym, heavily discounted café for employees and much more.

Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held on site; a chance to meet with the Engineering Manager, a Lead Engineer and to see their fantastic facility first-hand, as well as an opportunity to find out more about the role content, business culture and product range.
