Business Development Manager

The potency of the company, with its unique combination of high-quality products and a technology platform to support them, is significant. The business has already achieved remarkable growth, but things are now becoming really exciting for this well-established and highly regarded organisation.

The owners of this purpose led business were intent on disrupting their business niche… and that’s exactly what they have done and continue to do. Their success around this endeavour now means they are looking for an outstanding Business Development Manager to lead a ‘new routes to market’ channel for the business.


Background of selling to the NHS.

We are looking for someone who has had experience of selling to the NHS, someone who has an understanding of the bureaucracy and the culture and who has thrived on building long-term relationships with key NHS stakeholders. Understanding how to navigate NHS compliance to achieve sales is key.

We are looking for someone who is curious… a good listener with a high degree of empathy and EQ and the ability to articulate and present new ways of working. This role is all about building relationships and explaining a proposition that puts high quality products in the hands of patients in a way that saves clinicians time and improves patient safety. Whilst It’s a fantastic proposition, there is no template to follow, no precedent to point to other than a trail (that has gone really well). You will be explaining a solution that will be a new way of working for clinicians. That requires a salesperson who is very comfortable and adept at bringing a new concept to new relationships.

This is not a transactional sell and we want someone who is comfortable with a longer sales cycle with potentially multiple stakeholders and influencers in that sales journey. This is about incremental wins, building a chorus of support in an NHS Trust to a point where all the bureaucracy and compliance requirements have been met and overcome. Once sign off has been achieved, a separate team will support the training and embedding of the solution. Significantly, whilst having a sales mindset, you won’t be protective of the relationships you build. This is very much a team effort and sell and what a team they are. You could not wish to work with a more motivated, passionate and ambitious bunch. They are that way because they truly believe they are making a difference to NHS productivity and patient safety. Your role is to proactively get this team in front of the right people. You will need to be your authentic self, always striving to find new senior stakeholders to convince.


Being Mobile

The business is headquartered in Yorkshire, but you will be mobile and the team will need you to go wherever in the UK the opportunity exists. So, it’s a national role that will mean you are mobile for much of the time. This needs to be an arrangement that you’re actively seeking and very comfortable with.
