Job description Join HMRC as an Indirect Tax Specialist and play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity of the UK's tax system. As an Indirect Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth analyses of complex VAT cases, identifying potential risks, and developing robust compliance strategies. To be successful in this role, you must possess substantial and demonstrable knowledge of VAT compliance, coupled with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities - Conduct in-depth analyses of complex VAT cases, identifying potential risks and areas of non-compliance. - Develop and implement effective compliance strategies to ensure customers adhere to VAT regulations. Lead on the communication and delivery of these compliance strategies across internal and external stakeholder groups. - Investigate multiple business and individual networks, designed to hide fraud, tackling fraudulent behaviour and/or poor compliance. - Provide expert guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders on VAT compliance matters. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to VAT compliance. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of VAT legislation, regulations, and industry best practices. - Represent HMRC in meetings and discussions with external stakeholders, including businesses and professional bodies. - Contribute to the continuous improvement of VAT compliance processes and procedures.
