Job Title: Solution Architect


Location: Hybrid, 2-3 days a week in London or Madrid Offices

Employment Status: Full Time

Reporting to: Portfolio Manager


About the Role:

One of Carbon60's clients, a leading airline group within the cargo division is looking for a Solution Architect to join the team.


As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive technology solutions that address specific business needs. You will serve as a liaison between the technical and business aspects of new solutions, analysing business needs, identifying tech solutions, and designing a comprehensive plan for implementation. You will collaborate with various teams, such as Developers, Project Managers, and Analysts, to ensure effective implementation of the solution, achieving the organisation's objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, develop, and maintain sustainable respectful stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensure full adherence to all governance, standards, and processes across the organization.
  • Define solutions to complex business problems using a wide range of artifacts, methods, and tools.
  • Facilitate the structuring of business problems to ensure functional and non-functional requirements are clearly understood.
  • Maintain a view of business and technical capabilities and applications within a specialist business domain.
  • Ensure strategic transformational change is embedded within the organisation.
  • Manage key supplier relationships, ensuring the quality of supplier deliverables meets Group standards.
  • Provide expertise in driving forward solutions for applications, ensuring alignment with the business and technical strategic vision and goals.
  • Ensure best-in-class solutions that minimize customisation through Solution design that integrates world-class applications.
  • Communicate and negotiate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a balance of usability and fit with the enterprise architecture.
  • Partner with the project team to plan system testing tasks and audit implemented solutions to ensure planned benefits are realised.
  • Build strategic supplier relationships where third-party work or packages involve significant architectural decisions.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong stakeholder relationship skills with a proven ability to influence and persuade internally and externally.
  • Effective senior stakeholder management, balancing and finding compromises between opposing views and opinions.
  • Business partnering, working as a valued partner with senior stakeholders across a diverse operation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex IT/technology solutions coherently.
  • Strong risk management skills and the ability to work under pressure in a changing environment.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Certification in TOGAF or an equivalent qualification in IT architecture.
  • 5+ years in an architecture role with hands-on experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in operating within both Agile and Structured delivery environments.


Desirable Experience:

  • Experience working in the Logistics, Freight, Courier industry.
  • Experience with major technology and business change programs.


Salary: £85,000p/a + benefits
