Job Requirements/Description

Empowering Learning is delighted to be recruiting for a passionate and ambitious SENDCo on behalf of one of our outstanding client schools. We are seeking an excellent classroom practitioner and proven leader who is committed to making a significant impact on students' learning and outcomes.

The Role

As SENDCo, you will lead a dedicated Learning Development team, driving forward the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will play a critical role in ensuring that all students with additional needs can achieve their full potential, overseeing a team that includes a Deputy SENDCo and 8 Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).

Our client has a well-established SEND department with 35 students currently on EHCPs and 15% of the student body on the SEN register. Working closely with external partners and offering a range of in-school interventions, the school is highly ambitious for all students.

This role offers the chance to shape and influence teaching and learning across the school, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to make outstanding progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the development and implementation of SEND provision
  • Ensure the school's statutory responsibilities for students with EHCPs are met
  • Support staff in understanding and meeting the needs of SEND students
  • Monitor and evaluate progress towards targets for students with SEND
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, and pastoral staff to ensure inclusive teaching and high expectations for all learners
  • Collaborate with parents, external agencies, and other schools to ensure effective support for SEND students
  • Collect and interpret specialist assessment data to inform best practices

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic leader who has:

  • A good Honours Degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • A SENDCo qualification or currently working towards it
  • Relevant teaching experience within UK schools
  • A proven track record of outstanding teaching and leadership over a 3-year period
  • The ability to inspire, challenge, and hold others to account
  • Experience in managing budgets and strategic planning
  • A relentless focus on high standards and a commitment to making a difference

If you are a strategic thinker with an eye for detail and a desire to see SEND flourish in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment, this is an exceptional opportunity to take on a substantial middle leadership role.

Why Join?

This is a fantastic time to join a thriving school with high aspirations for all students. You will become part of a committed team and have the chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of students with SEND. If you share the school's commitment to excellence and are passionate about inclusive education, we would love to hear from you.
