Job Requirements/Description

What is AME Group?

We are a design engineering solutions company that seeks to bring our clients the best in design and production process for low volume manufacturing in the UK. We are based in Sheffield and have an award-winning team of design engineers and an in-house low volume manufacturing facility. Our sweet spot is the design and manufacture of complex, low volume moulded enclosures but we can turn our hands and brains to any challenge.

We service businesses across sectors including defence, automotive, consumer electronics, industrial, aerospace, TV and film and more.

Our vision is to be the UK’s leading low volume production provider for people looking for 1-1000 units per year. We are looking for someone who can help us achieve that vision.

Candidate information

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to engage a highly motivated, business development manager with a knack for breaking into new businesses or markets and selling them complex technical solutions. You will be well versed in hunting out new business with tenacity, generating your own leads with clarity, closing sales with urgency. We want to bring someone in with the ambition to grow with the business and develop into a key part of the team. It’s vital that you have a strong understanding of design and engineering language and principles, are able to convey the benefits of innovation and think quickly on your feet. You must be results driven and have a passion to succeed.

What we expect of you.

We expect that you will be a sleeves rolled up, diligent and highly committed individual, ready to hit the ground running. In that, you will be expected to develop your own prospect list, formulate your approach play and bring in new business opportunities across the business but with a primary focus on our design and engineering consultancy. You will operate within our wider sales team, being a positive influence on the rest of the team. You need to be tech savvy, CRM competent and willing to learn and grow. It goes without saying that you will have some excellent business development experience already and have a really good handle on sales processes.

What you’ve already done.

You’ve sold within the design or engineering sector for a few years and come up through the sales ranks or successfully transitioned from a hands on designer/engineer. You know what it is to hold a technical conversation and don’t get easily flustered. Your selling track record is enviable, and you can sell more than just stuff. You need to be able to sell ideas and a better future to our potential clients. You will have proven that you are dependable, able to work on your own or in a team and be willing to hold others to account. You can negotiate on more than just price and be smart when it comes to overcoming challenges and objections.

Role information

What, where, when and how much…

You will join the wider AME Group sales team, reporting to the group sales director, and have responsibility for selling across the AME Group offering, with a primary focus on the engineering consultancy side of the business, biild. As this develops you will be expected to speak into the ongoing strategy for the business unit.

We are based out of Momentum House, Dinnington, Sheffield, S25 2RG. When you’re not out on the road visiting clients we foresee this being an onsite role with the possibility to transition to a hybrid role down the line.

We work Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm and try to enjoy as much of that possible!

We will provide private health insurance, pension, 25 days holiday allowance, increasing to 28 after 5 years’ service, a competitive salary and loads of opportunity to grow.
