Head of Infrastructure & Service Management

Location: London - Hybrid working

Sector: Leading Global Insurance Firm

Salary: £170,000 - £180,000 + 30% Bonus + Full Comprehensive benefits


We are representing a leading global insurance firm in the search for a dynamic and seasoned Head of Infrastructure & Service Management. This is a key leadership position with global accountability for all aspects of infrastructure and service management, encompassing database services, platforms, infrastructure support, end-user computing, and network collaboration.


This role is central to the IT leadership team, focusing on driving the global IT strategy, and service delivery, and ensuring operational excellence across all infrastructure services. The successful candidate will be pivotal in transforming the IT function and will be recognized as a potential successor to the Group's Chief Information Officer.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Translate the organization’s vision and divisional strategies into operational deliverables, driving performance through effective planning and support mechanisms.
  • Service Delivery Excellence: Own and manage global IT service provision, including oversight of outsourced service desks, service management offices, and end-user support.
  • Policy & Compliance: Develop and implement governance frameworks and quality standards to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and legislative requirements.
  • Operational Management: Lead the global strategy for all technology infrastructure components, including storage, telephony, networking, and connectivity, ensuring that ITSM processes are effectively leveraged.
  • Customer Focus: Build strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure service delivery aligns with current and future business needs.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Champion continuous improvement and drive transformative opportunities, balancing commercial ambition with rigorous cost management.
  • People Leadership: Provide direction and support to operational management, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance within the IT function.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven track record in IT leadership within a global, complex organization, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Extensive experience managing relationships with senior stakeholders and third-party vendors.
  • Strong background in technology delivery, infrastructure services, and service management.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into actionable IT strategy.
  • Exceptional organizational, people management, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent financial acumen with experience in budget management, forecasting, and cost analysis.
  • Proficient in managing multiple, complex projects with strong program management skills.
  • Expertise in change management and fostering innovation within a team environment.
