Tiro Partners have recently been engaged by an AI FinTech client to source an experienced Engineering Manager to lead their Software and Data Teams in the UK and Europe which currently has 24 resources. This role is a unique blend of technical leadership and people management, responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of releases, resolving technical challenges, and connecting the two teams to drive business outcomes. After 12 months it is expected this person will scale the functions as required as they secure more global clients in the FS space.
The main responsibilities will be team leadership & collaboration, technical understanding & problem solving, people leadership & development, delivery & process improvement and business alignment.
Qualification and Experience
- Education: Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience leading data and software engineering teams in fast-paced, data-intensive environments (ideally FinTech or related fields).
- Strong background in data platforms, architecture, or large-scale data setups; hands-on experience in data or software engineering with a solid grasp of technical challenges.
- Data & Infrastructure: Deep understanding of data platforms, cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure and GCP, modern DevOps, MLOps and GitOps practices, Kubernetes both on-Cloud and on-premises, and scalable systems
- Engineering Practices: Familiarity with modern software practices, data pipelines, and system integration.
- Previous or current experience as software engineer in Python, C# .NET, Azure DevOps, Polars, Apache Ray, Apache Iceberg, Clickhouse, PostgreSQL, S3
- Experience with building, training, fine-tuning LLMs and serving multiple LLMs at scale with techniques such as quantisation, paged attention and continuous batching.
- Ability to travel to Central Europe once a quarter or as required for key meetings /all hands meetings.
- Ability to attend their London office as required (no set days per week but as required)
