GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Design & Technology Teacher (Product Design) to join a vibrant team at a client school in Redbridge. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of budding designers and engineers by delivering engaging lessons that foster creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills.

Job Summary: As a Design & Technology Teacher (Product Design), you will play a pivotal role in students' educational journeys, encouraging them to explore new ideas, develop practical skills, and gain confidence in product design. ECTs are also encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach engaging Design & Technology lessons with a focus on Product Design, incorporating both theoretical concepts and practical applications.
  • Motivate students to tap into their creativity, helping them enhance their technical abilities to design and construct innovative products.
  • Cultivate a classroom environment that is inclusive and encouraging, where students feel confident to express ideas, experiment, and collaborate on design challenges.
  • Effectively manage classroom behaviour to create a safe, respectful, and constructive learning atmosphere.
  • Offer regular, constructive feedback to students and their families, providing insights into academic progress and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare students for both theoretical and practical assessments, offering guidance and support in revising key topics and completing project-based work.
  • Actively contribute to the school s broader activities by participating in extracurricular programs related to product design, fostering students interest and skills.
  • Keep current with the latest developments in Design & Technology, including updates to the curriculum and the introduction of new materials or tools that can enrich the learning experience.
  • Work closely with colleagues to create and support cross-curricular projects that inspire creativity and innovation in students.
  • Ensure accurate and timely records of student progress are maintained, with clear communication to parents and school leadership about achievements and next steps.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in Design & Technology or a related field.
  • Experience as a Design & Technology Teacher (Product Design) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of product design principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop engaging and creative lesson plans.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Familiarity with the UK education system and curriculum standards.
