We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the team in a welcoming SEN college. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting post-16 students with PMLD and complex needs. You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and medical professionals to provide tailored support, ensuring the physical, emotional, and educational well-being of the students.
The college is only open Monday-Thursday, so you can enjoy work life balance with a 3 day weekend!
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with PMLD, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Assist in the implementation of personalized learning plans, adapting materials and resources to meet individual needs.
- Support students with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals, to support the holistic development of each student.
- Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviours of concern, following the college's behaviour support plans.
- Monitor and record student progress, contributing to assessments and reviews.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
About You:
- Experience working with individuals with PMLD, complex medical needs, or behaviours of concern is highly desirable.
- A caring and patient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of students.
- Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, SEN, or equivalent, are advantageous but not essential.
- Willingness to undertake additional training, including behaviour management and medical training.
