Job Overview:

To drive and have responsibility of the regional field delivery of multiple dwelling units (MDU) on the VMO2 Fibre Upgrade overlay programme from approval to build, completion and handover. Managing the build activity ensuring this is carried out in accordance with client policies and processes, H&S, agreed routes, VMO2 specifications, and to the NRSWA and Code of Practice for co-ordination of Street Works. Using expertise and tenacity to overcome challenges, minimalizing impact to delivery and or cost from completion to handover. Managing the validation of the VMO2 data to ensure the Fibre Upgrade overlay Programme meets its objective for the overlay of fibre to existing MDU’s that are pre-wired internally or externally only.


Responsibilities:

  • To support and manage the field Fibre Upgrade overlay MDU Works ensuring the planning survey, design and build are delivered in a compliant standard that meets MDU Codes of Practice & regulations and the design
  • Use key measures of success are to drive installation and quality right first time and in accordance with the building owners and design specifications
  • Managing the validation of data for MDU categorisation through process ensuring the fibre upgrade overlay MDU homes are categorised correctly and reported back through the programme
  • Managing partners successfully completing the validation of the VMO2 data and carrying out site surveys to aid this process
  • Ensuring all reporting of build types are captured accurately and fed back to the programme
  • Support the design partner including external and internal design overview including any associated site visits. Identification of potential SED's and physical challenges including any potential traffic management requirements, footpath, and carriageway restrictions.
  • Support joint site meetings with the landlords/MA to agree technical design and permission to proceed including walk off agreement
  • Engagement with VMO2 local CLO & landlords/MA regarding any community engagement to ensure the build completes to plan and with minimal impact to residents
  • Ensuring required permits and SLG are in place for compliance to the NRSWA for co-ordination of external street works to the building and collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the partner in ensuring access approval is gained prior to any works commencing on the MDU’s
  • Conducting Safe on Arrival’s for all works
  • Carrying out live & retrospective audits of the internal/external build to ensure compliance with all current legislation and client specifications. Any non-compliance must be reported and managed to successful resolution
  • Co-ordinate third party works, power connections / meter installations that may be required as part of the installation
  • Supporting the Build Delivery Manager for MDU payments, managing change to the design, approving, and reviewing DFE’s where appropriate.


Experience Needed

  • Experience managing within an MDU pre-wire role out is essential
  • Strong management ability, communication & negotiation skills
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work alone and within a team structure
  • Good knowledge of HFC and FTTx networks in relation to MDU pre-wire and knowledge of the VMO2 Fibre Upgrade programme is desirable
  • Experience working on delivery of a HFC and FTTx network is essential, including experience in the use of PIA and advantage
  • Computer literate - good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and teams
  • Demonstrate financial awareness with experience in managing partners
  • Ability to read, understand & replan SLD’s & job packs including multiple dependencies in relation to FTTx networks
  • Must me qualified to NRASWA Supervisor level and have an excellent knowledge of street works compliance
  • Flexible and able to work outside normal hours when required.
  • Proven track record of managing and supervising telecommunication build partners in the field for civils and fibre installations
  • Proven track record of working with Local Authorities and other utilities
  • Knowledge of H&S and CDM Regulations including familiarity with
  • Demonstrate experience in adherence to managing H&S in the field
  • Strong technical, analytical & problem-solving skills
