Job Description:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality education and creating a positive learning environment for students. You will work closely with students, including some with special educational needs (SEN), to ensure they receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher with lesson planning and preparation.
- Support students' learning activities in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
- Work with children with SEN, adapting teaching materials and methods as needed.
- Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
- Supervise students during break times, lunchtime, and on school trips.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping and preparing teaching materials.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within a primary school setting.
- Understanding of child development and educational needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A relevant qualification in childcare or education is desirable but not essential.
- A valid DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willing to undergo a DBS check).
