Job Title: Lifeguard

Department: Sports Department

Accountable to: Lifeguard Supervisor

Location: Stowe School

Purpose of the role: To maintain the swimming pool as a safe environment, offering surveillance and when required, emergency care and treatment to users.

Key Tasks:

  • To ensure lifesaving equipment and first aid kit is kept up to date.
  • To maintain constant surveillance of users in the facility including clubs, members of SESC Swimming Club; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of users in the event of emergency.
  • To provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • To liaise with the School s Security Team (phone number removed) regarding the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • To lock and unlock the pool ready for pool sessions.
  • To ensure the pool is kept clean and tidy and pool rules are adhered to. 7. To present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service. 8. To perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • To prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports.
  • To perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Lifeguard Shifts:

Saturday: 1.30 - 3.30pm

Sunday: 1.00 - 4.00pm

Shifts will be agreed with the line manager and the post. During the Stowe School holidays additional hours will be required in order to cover the use of the swimming pool by external group bookings and the extended club members timetables.

Qualifications

  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
  • Specialist Skills and Experience
  • Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
  • Proven ability to dive to 3.4 metres depth.
