Quantity Surveyor - Milton Keynes

I am currently recruiting exclusively for a Quantity Surveyor to support commercial aspects of project delivery. Reporting to the Commercial Manager the Quantity Surveyor will support project teams, which commercial, financial and contract related matters

The Quantity Surveyor will provide a first-class service to the client and projects delivery teams, using industry best practise.

The role will be both site & office based, main area of operations will be between Milton Keynes and London.

The successful candidate will need to undertake security clearance checks. Security Clearance is a mandatory requirement for this role.

The role gives fantastic opportunities to progress within a brilliant organisation in the defense sector. You will be given the opportunity to progress and also given the support and guidance to make this happen.

The role will be working on several projects at once which will be Pre and Post contract and primarily be NEC contracts. NEC contract experience is essential for this position.

Main Duties

Responsibilities

• Support the production of budgets, forecasts and monthly CVR's,
• Manage project income recovery and instigate action to ensure prompt payment of invoices, minimising WIP and debt.
• Lead on the valuation, tendering and submission of contract variations
• Work with the project delivery team(s) in ensuring that the contracts are administered accurately
• Liaise with the client to establish Value for Money on projects and budgets.
• Proactively identify and communicate commercial risk and opportunities to the project team(s) and the wider business.
• Review of contract terms and conditions for any new project opportunity.
• Ensuring that supply chain partners provide best value for money and adhere to agreed contract terms
• Ensuring that the key stakeholders are notified of any key or material changes to a project.
• Establish and maintain good responsive communication with the customer
• Support Client initiatives and projects.
• Resolve contractual issues and disputes.
• Ensure a clear, mutual understanding of the contractual requirements is established.
• Ensure the timely provision of commercial reports, including contract variations.
• Support the Commercial Manager to carry out Tender analysis and prepare client proposals and recommendations.
• Support the development of feasibility proposals by providing robust cost estimates and procurement recommendations.

What we are looking for

Knowledge, skills & experience

Essential

• Qualified to HND or Degree Level in Quantity Surveying

• Experience in a similar role
• Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, and capable of working to challenging deadlines
• Knowledge of contract law and demonstrable knowledge of NEC suite of contracts
• Mobile and available to travel between sites to meet business needs.
• Able to evaluate tender submissions and produce analytical reports.
• Financial and commercial acumen and awareness., including current contract legislation.
• Analytical and a proactive approach to problem solve
