Location: Home based with some ad hoc travel to London
About the role:
- Experienced Data Architect to join a newly established Data Office capability within DSA to set the vision for DSA’s use of data, with strong communications skills and capable of working well within a team and with senior stakeholders.
- Will lead the determination of DSA data strategy, policy and standards in line with HO requirements, ensuring they are agreed by DSA leadership.
- Will guide DSA senior leadership on strategic of DSA-wide data architecture issues in conjunction with DSA Architecture
- Will champion Data Architecture across DSA and empower and guide DSA architects to understand and deliver against DSA data strategy, policy and standards
- Will lead assurance of DSA data architecture and lead data best practice in design decision-making
- Will champion prioritised maturity growth in data architecture team
Main responsibilities:
- Set standards and ways of working for the DSA Data Architecture community
- Define policies and set standards for modelling, structuring, naming, describing, securing, and formatting data in DSA
- Oversee the design of multiple data models and having a broad understanding of how each model fulfils the needs of the business
- Define and implement governance to ensure DSA data strategy is followed
- Ensure that DSA’s systems are designed in line with the Data Architecture
- Provide advice to project teams, using their deep knowledge of industry best practices and emerging tools and methodology, and overseeing the management of the full data lifecycle
- Liaise and communicate with senior stakeholders across the other areas within DDaT to understand what the business requires and how DSA can manage these needs
- Lead communication of data strategy/policy/standards and strategic data architecture
- Communicate strategic vision for data management tooling to guide establishment and adoption
- Provide support to Head of Data Office and Data Governance Manager in data maturity assessments and general SME input on delivery of Data Office initiatives, such as data quality assurance
Skills and experience
- Experience of implementing Informatica EDC and Axon and able to advise and drive activities as per good practice.
- Strong technical leadership and a passion for driving value from the exploitation of data
- Deep understanding of exploiting data from a complex technical domain with multiple database technologies, data integration, metadata management, analytics and insight generation
- Providing advice to tech. teams on good data modelling, database management principles and data governance
- Defining and managing technical roadmaps and strategy
- Identifying industry recognised data patterns and standards and applying these to any organisation
- Designing and leading the conceptual, logical and physical design for distributed databases
- Driving Meta Data Architecture and Master Data Management Solutions
- Working with Cloud Data technologies, solutions and future Cloud Data Strategies
