How would you like to work for a company where nobody leaves, they value quality of their projects and push for their employees personal development and progression?...

We are working with one of the West Midlands leading creative agencies, a company renowned for developing innovative marketing communications that stand out. They have an impressive client base and are passionate about creating, developing, and implementing projects that set their clients apart from the competition.

They are seeking a talented Web Developer to join their expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to work on WordPress and WooCommerce projects developed entirely in-house, with minimal reliance on plugins or templates. You will report to the Technical Director and collaborate closely with a dynamic team to deliver a range of projects, from full website builds to updates and enhancements of existing sites.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of industry experience, with a strong background in WordPress, the block editor, and WooCommerce. You will be involved in every stage of the project lifecycle, from contributing to initial proposal discussions to delivering custom web applications that drive business processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in project proposal discussions with the development team, project managers, and designers.
  • Assisting with wireframe development.
  • Building and maintaining WordPress websites and WooCommerce stores.
  • Developing custom web applications.
  • Cross-browser and device testing, including debugging.
  • Monitoring server health and uptime (no in-depth configuration required).
  • Collaborating with creative and account management teams to deliver client solutions.
  • Providing support for existing client websites.
  • Attending team and company-wide meetings, as well as client meetings when required (both virtual and in-person).

Required skills and experience:

  • Strong experience in a similar environment, ideally with development agency work.
  • Advanced knowledge of WordPress and the block editor.
  • Proficiency in PHP back-end development.
  • Expertise in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and formats like JSON and XML.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, specifically Git.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and logical thinking.
  • Ability to use Photoshop and Figma to export and optimise assets.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices.
  • Experience with command line utilities on Mac and/or Linux.
  • Awareness of the latest web trends and open-source projects.
