We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Manchester team!! Applicants must be based in NW.

CCS Consulting Ltd is an established Civil and Structural Engineering practice with offices in Manchester, Leeds and London. We undertake a variety of projects of all sizes across the UK.

We pride ourselves on the diversity of our project portfolio and we have developed extensive experience across many of the key industry sectors. These include residential, industrial, Listed and heritage buildings, healthcare, education, commercial, retail and events / entertainment sectors.

CCS Consulting has a proven track record of designing high quality projects throughout the UK, using up to date design and detailing software. We have BIM Level 2 capability providing fully coordinated 3D designs and use a suite of the latest industry leading civil and structural design software.

As a team-working organisation we specialise in providing innovative solutions to the benefit of all concerned and we are adept at working with complex buildings/processes including liaison with end users, project managers, statutory bodies, design teams and other stakeholders.

We have extensive previous experience of working with multi-national consultancy practices and are experienced in the delivery of large and technically challenging projects.

Whilst we are committed to the nurturing, development, and empowerment of our junior staff, we believe it is of great importance that all our projects, no matter how small, also have hands on Director involvement also.

Our Manchester office has seen continued growth, with a strong and exciting pipeline of projects and future opportunities. We are now looking for the right person, with ambition to grow with us, to join our Manchester team in a project leading role as a Senior Structural Engineer.

Job description

This is an extremely exciting client facing opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated and reliable Senior Structural Engineer to support the ongoing expansion of our Manchester team, manage projects, mentor junior staff and progress their career. The successful candidate will be highly organised and have experience of working for a consultancy within the building structures sector.

The successful candidate will be a Chartered (or approaching Chartered status) IStructE Engineer and will work alongside the office Directors and the senior staff, in a friendly, supportive and dynamic team, to assist with the day-to-day running of small to large scale projects and to support other engineers within the business. The candidate will work on a variety of projects from concept phase to completion, including structural design and modelling, design team coordination, preparation /overseeing structural designs, calculations, reports, specifications and drawings.

Skills and Responsibilities

A good knowledge of structural engineering principles and relevant design codes of practice (Eurocodes), and the ability to apply these across all projects.

A good knowledge of structural engineering materials, to include steel, concrete, timber and masonry.

A demonstrable experience of working on UK based projects, in accordance with UK Building Regulations and other relevant UK standards, across a range of the main industry sectors such as industrial, residential, retail, commercial and healthcare.

The candidate must be a team player, with excellent communication skills (written and verbal English) and the desire to work collaboratively to achieve the best results possible.

Highly motivated, passionate and with an attention to detail.

Essential experience of structural design software including, but not limited to, Tekla Structural Designer & Autodesk Robot.

Good knowledge of BIM, and experience of delivering projects collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Relevant degree qualification - BEng/MEng Civil/Structural engineering (accredited).

The successful candidate will be Chartered (or approaching) with the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

The role will generally be office based, with a flexible working approach. Candidates may be required to travel around the UK to attend design meetings and site visits.

Full Driving Licence preferred.
