Job Requirements/Description

University of the Arts London (UAL) is a world-leading creative university for teaching and research in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts. UAL is made up of six renowned colleges and hosts several institutes that further the university’s mission and social purpose.

Digital & Technology at UAL is on an exciting journey, shifting from a technology-first approach, to building the design, development, and delivery of services around our users and their needs, investing in the people and processes enabled by digital and transforming the student and staff experience.

As Identity and Access Management Specialist, you will provide direction and support to teams across the organisation, ensuring a systems infrastructure that is fit for purpose and meets the current and future needs of the University. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining identity and access management solutions to ensure secure and seamless access to resources for staff and students at UAL, and will collaborate with various teams to develop and enforce identity-related policies, standards, and procedures.

This is a forward-looking role where emerging technologies need to be assessed as to their benefit to the University, and determining how that technology can be used to improve the overall student and staff experience.

  • Experience with identity and access management tools and platforms, with demonstrable experience of Open text Identity Manager, Open Text Access Manager, Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID
  • In-depth knowledge of identity management standards and protocols, such as LDAP, SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.
  • Strong understanding of security principles and best practices, including encryption, PKI, and role-based access control (RBAC).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications would be desirable.

UAL is a world-class university, shaping the creative industries worldwide, and staff have access to a range of benefits, training and personal development to recognise and reward the contributions they make, and to encourage excellence, creativity and diversity, including:

  • Competitive salary package of £54,018 - £72,510 per annum (inclusive of 6% market supplement) depending on experience
  • 34 days annual leave plus public holidays
  • Generous, defined benefit pension scheme
  • Family-friendly policies, including 26 weeks of full maternity or paternity pay
