Accounts Assistant

Pertemps Stoke are seeking a highly organised and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our client’s team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. Based in Stoke-on-Trent, you will be providing essential support across various finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and credit control. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in financial services and Sage 50 Payroll, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities of this Accounts Assistant role:

  • Assist in managing both AP and AR processes, ensuring accurate processing of invoices, payments, and customer receipts.
  • Accurately book in deliveries and allocate them to appropriate projects.
  • Reconcile delivery notes with purchase orders and supplier monthly statements.
  • Generate sales orders and ensure they are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with credit control by monitoring outstanding balances, following up on overdue payments, and managing customer accounts.
  • Process and submit payroll and pension reports using Sage 50 Payroll.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to financial transactions, providing clear and timely information.
  • Analyse and balance petty cash and company credit cards on a regular basis.
Key Skills & Experience for this Accounts Assistant role:
  • Proven experience with Sage 50 Payroll software is essential.
  • Solid understanding of both AP and AR processes.
  • Experience in a financial services environment.
  • High level of accuracy in processing financial transactions and reconciling data.
  • Ability to analyse financial data, manage credit control, and assist with financial reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external suppliers/customers.
  • Proactive approach to identifying discrepancies and resolving financial issues.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines in a busy office environment.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software.
Details of this Accounts Assistant role:
  • Monday to Friday 37.5 hours
  • Free onsite parking
  • Location: Stoke-on-Trent
  • Temporary contract – 12 Months
