Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure and Environment Automation: Automate and optimize infrastructure and environments to ensure efficiency and reliability.
  • Continuous Integration Infrastructure: Own, manage, and maintain the Continuous Integration (CI) infrastructure to support seamless development and deployment.
  • Monitoring and Diagnostics: Develop and enhance monitoring and diagnostics tools to ensure system health and performance.
  • End-User Automation Solutions: Deliver automation solutions to improve end-user experience and operational efficiency.


DevOps Team Overview:

At our leading hedge fund consultancy, the DevOps team is crucial in minimizing operational risk and enhancing efficiency across the technology organization. By identifying and implementing automation opportunities, the team ensures smooth operation of both development pipelines and production environments. Working closely with the Core Architecture team, DevOps engineers help evolve and scale systems to meet the business's growing needs.


Typical Responsibilities:

  • Automate and optimize infrastructure and environments.
  • Maintain and enhance Continuous Integration (CI) infrastructure.
  • Develop monitoring and diagnostics tools.
  • Deliver automation solutions for end-users.
  • Collaborate with the Core Architecture team to scale and evolve systems.


What Makes a Great Candidate?

  • Scripting and Programming: Proficiency in PowerShell and a scripting language; experience with C#, Java, or Python.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Knowledge of Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
  • Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with ELK, Grafana, or equivalent monitoring tools.
  • CI/CD: Experience with TeamCity for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Database Management: Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • System Administration: Experience with both Windows and Linux administration.
  • Educational Background: A-Levels at grade A*/A/B (or international equivalent) and a minimum 2.1 degree in Computer Science or a related field from a Russell Group University.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Atlassian Tools: Knowledge of Bitbucket and JIRA.
  • Artifact Storage: Experience with Artifactory.
  • Deployment Tools: Familiarity with Octopus Deploy.
  • Static Analysis: Experience with tools like SonarQube.
  • Job Scheduling: Knowledge of Control-M.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Virtualization and Storage: Familiarity with VMware (vSphere) and SAN.
