Overview:

As a Trading Analyst, you will serve as a pivotal link between Trading, Operations, Risk, and Finance, supporting decision-making and trade analysis across multiple markets. You will be responsible for evaluating trades, conducting market analysis, and creating financial models that influence overall hedging strategies. This is an ideal role for individuals with strong analytical skills and a keen interest in commodity trading.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deal Management: Oversee the life cycle of multiple product trades, from provisional stages through to final settlement.
  • Trade Allocation: Ensure accurate allocation of physical and financial transactions to the correct trading strategies.
  • Exposure & P&L Analysis: Track market exposure and apply mark-to-market analysis on positions, helping traders understand profit and loss movements.
  • Cost Monitoring: Monitor all costs associated with physical trades and report any discrepancies between provisioned and actual costs.
  • Market Risk Management: Ensure that market price risks are fully captured, and hedge actions are executed in alignment with trading strategies.
  • Forward Curve Application: Apply forward curves to both physical and derivative positions, explaining the impact on trading profit and loss.
  • Daily Reporting: Produce daily market commentary to help traders understand P&L changes due to market dynamics.
  • Market Analysis & Strategy: Provide support in identifying trading opportunities and trends, generating strategies to capitalize on market movements.
  • Model Development: Create and maintain models and dashboards to forecast market balances and visualize supply/demand dynamics.
  • Process Improvement: Proactively enhance existing processes, tools, and models for improved accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Perform additional tasks as needed to support the trading desk and its objectives.
  • Skills & Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields.
    • Experience: analytical experience in supply and trading.
    • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with trading models and exposure strategies across multiple products or regions.
    • Trading Systems: Experience with Trading and Risk Management Systems (Allegro preferred).
    • Analytical Tools: Advanced skills in Excel, Python, R, VBA, SQL, and C++ for data analysis and model development.
    • Data Management: Strong capabilities in querying databases and managing large datasets.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the confidence to present insights to senior management.
    • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
