Your Role:

As a Communication Engineer, you’ll be pivotal in building, developing, and supporting all mobile devices across the force. You’ll collaborate with the broader team on network, firewall, and telephony infrastructure support, including ICCS infrastructure.


What You’ll Do:

  • Safeguard Our Network: Ensure the security, integrity, and performance of our operational network and communications infrastructure.
  • Manage Airwave Infrastructure: Oversee end-user Airwave devices, Integrated Communications Control System (ICCS), fleet mapping, and coverage.
  • Enhance Data Networks: Work with Local Area Networking, Wide Area Networking, and Wireless Networking to keep our data flowing smoothly.
  • Support Voice and Video Tech: Maintain our Voice Over IP (VOIP) and Video Conferencing systems.
  • Secure Connectivity: Manage our firewall and gateway infrastructure to ensure secure internet and network connections.
  • Transition New Tech: Help transition new or updated infrastructure from development to live environments.
  • Provide Expert Knowledge: Offer your expertise to various projects and change initiatives.


Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to manage workloads and set priorities.
  • Providing guidance, setting standards, managing escalations & reporting.
  • Leading project delivery, adhering to standards and BAU responsibilities.
  • Voice & network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Thorough understanding of networking/firewall technologies, principles and topologies.
  • Experience and knowledge of ITIL processes.
  • Knowledge of platform compliance and security.
  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Significant experience of working in a 3rd line SIP/voice/radio engineering role.


Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate IT/Communication systems degree or equivalent.
  • Voice/communications related industry qualification, such as:
  • SIP telephony
  • ICCS support and Radio system support
